As a professional, you must refer a child to the child’s local school district if you or the child’s parents are concerned about any aspect of a child’s development, if a child’s screening indicates concerns, or if the child has a confirmed diagnosis that is likely to result in a developmental delay. You may use the Help Me Grow system to make a referral.
There are certain diagnosed conditions that result in automatic eligibility for Infant and Toddler Intervention services. “High probability” or “established condition” means current research findings indicate that at least 50% of children with a given diagnosed condition will experience a developmental delay in one or more areas of development by the time they enter kindergarten.
This list is not exhaustive or exclusive, and should be considered examples of diagnosed conditions with a “high probability” of resulting in a developmental delay. Children with these conditions are eligible for services even if the child is not currently demonstrating a need or delay.
